La France en relief - From Louis XIV to Napoléon III

The Nave
Relief maps - models of fortified tows – were produced for military purposes from the reign of Louis XIV to the end of 19th century. Theses objects, of an incredible quality and size, shed light on a range of historical phenomena, including the development and setting of borders, siege warfare and fortifications, map-making, and the transformation of the town planning and the landscape
 
Opening times: Monday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m and Wenesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Closed on Tuesday.
Entrance fee: 5 € - Reduced rate: 2,50 €

Hair and science

Le palais de la Découverte
Hair is an integral part of our appearance, biologically, aesthetically, and forms an astonishing link between the intimate, the social and the cultural. Hair is at the same time familiar and mysterious, revealing its secrets and multiple facets in the exhibition: "Hair and science”.

From life and matter under the microscope to science and leading-edge research, via a broad look at fashion and culture, a whole range of enjoyable interactive exhibits gives insights into the busy world on our heads, and attempts to tell us everything we always wanted to know about our hair!

Open Tuesday to Saturday 9:30 am – 6:00 pm; Sundays and public holidays 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. Closed MONDAYS and on January 1, May 1, July 14, August 15 and December 25.
Full entrance: 7 €; reduced price: 4.50 €; free for children under 5;
Additional fee for the planetarium: 3.50 €; Extra admission for specific workshops: 1.50 €

The Nave
On the 16th, 17th and 18th of March, the sound of horses' hooves will again resound under the glass roof of the Grand Palais: the Maison Hermès is organising the third Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais. Fanatics of the Grand Palais, horses-lovers, and those passionate about sport will have the opportunity to meet here in the Nave and admire the best horses riders in the world participating in an international show jumping competition CSI5*.
On the course, and as a short breather between heats, spectators will aso be able to experience a never-seen-before horse show. Saddle-up for the Grand Palais!

Art Paris Art Fair

At the end of March, the contemporary and modern art fair, Art Paris Art Fair, will host 125 international galleries and publishers under the glass-domed roof of the Grand Palais. An informal event, Art Paris Art Fair is open to all practising artists, and attracts over 4,000 visitors, professionals and art lovers.
 
Opening times on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm and on Sunday from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm

International Antiquarian Book Fair Fine Print and International Fine Print Fair

The Nave
In the Nave, 150 booksellers from around the world and 50 print dealers are shining the spotlight on rare, curious, unusual, surprising and moving documents: Manuscripts, precious copies, scholarly and popular works, sumptuous bindings, artists' books, photographs, ancient cards, prints, and ancient and modern drawings... coming from the four corners of the earth. The guest of honour of the 2012 fair will be the Bibliothèque du Barreau de Paris (Paris' Barreau Lbrary) which will be exhibiting its exceptional collections. A rich and radiant programme to immerse visitors in a world of erudition and pleasure under the glass roof of the Grand Palais, an emblematic location for cultural events.
 
Opening times from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
