Frequently asked questions

When is the Nave of the Grand Palais available?

The Nave now hosts both public events and private functions. Several recurrent events take up a significant part of the schedule for the Nave, notably the Biennale des Antiquaires, the FIAC contemporary arts exhibition, and fashion shows.
However there are gaps in the calendar for the organisation of events that can involve several disciplines, provided that they are in line with our underlying principles of excellence and style.
Tomorrow, the Grand Palais will be able to offer several new areas: the VIP lounge (12,900 sq. ft. – 1,200 m2), the South-East gallery (7,500 sq.ft. – 700 m2) and the projection room (100 seats) for your functions.

What is the procedure for renting the Nave of the Grand Palais?

The Nave is a venue for large-scale public events but it can also be rented for private functions including AGMs, conventions, professional meetings, anniversaries, and corporate events.
Companies interested in renting the Nave can contact the commercial department of our Events organisation, who will be happy to send you an Enquiry Form. Each enquiry is examined on the basis of a number of criteria: the type of project, the quality of the application, the dates requested, and availability.
When the project has been accepted, the operations manager, supported by the Nave's team of technicians, will help you to design and plan the function, and make sure that everything goes smoothly.

If you have a project for a public event, you might like to find out more about the themes that our programming is based on.

How much does it cost to hire the Nave?

The fee for the use of the Nave is calculated on the basis of a number of criteria: the floor space used, the length of the occupancy, the type of event, the number of days to set up/take down the event/exhibit and the number of days used, the season and a sliding discount rate linked to duration.

A daily flat rate of 2,150 € exc. VAT for the consumption of electricity, heating, water, bailiff's fees, a security agent, a fireman and general running costs linked to occupying the Nave.

The costs linked to obligatory services such as janitorial, security, safety, cleaning and procurement, paid directly to suppliers.

A guarantee deposit covering the risk of damage linked to the use of the premises.

What are the constraints involved in using the Nave?

The whole of the Grand Palais has been listed as a historic monument since 2000. This is why we are responsible for the whole building (structure, floor, etc.). Objects may not be hung from the structures, and the use of petrol-driven lifting vehicles, notably forklift trucks is prohibited. Full details of constraints linked to the use of the building are listed in the specifications for the general conditions of use.

What about heating in the Nave?

Today the central Nave (dome and paddock) is equipped with radiant heating. Height and number can be adapted to each event.
We are currently carrying out a climate study in order to develop a heating and cooling system that will be specifically designed as an appropriate, enduring solution for the building.

How is setting up and dismantling the Nave organised?

Access to the Nave for heavy goods vehicles and cranes is via the South Door, cours la Reine. Small vehicles, including vans and forklift trucks can access the Nave through the North Door, avenue du Général-Eisenhower.
Five articulated trucks are allowed to occupy the Nave at the same time. An area can be cordoned off for parking on the cours la Reine side of the building where required.
