Pink Panther 2

© DR Etienne George
The film Pink Panther 2 was shot by Harald Zwart in the summer of 2007 and starred Steve Martin and Jean Reno. The choice of the Grand Palais as a location for much of the action showed just how important and popular the building is in the American imagination.

L’Europe et nous

May 2008 – Public Sénat

Art de Vivre

June 2008 - France 5
Presentation: Stéphane Thebaut

During the programme, viewers discovered the Nave, the unique story of the building that was from the outset such a colossal construction project, its closure for lengthy restoration work, the subsequent reopening, and its current vocation as a venue for a wide range of events.

After the Centre Pompidou and the Palais de Tokyo, Art de vivre, an evening programme broadcast by the France 5 TV channel, came to the Grand Palais. Each week, Stéphane Thebaut takes at a look at a different site, presents the geographical, historical and cultural aspects, and accompanies viewers in an "art de vivre" itinerary that includes three magazines:
- "Question maison" (interior decoration)
- "Silence, ça pousse !" (gardening)
- "C'est notre affaire" (shopping)

With the French Presidency of the European Union just weeks away, Marie-Laetitia Bouriez welcomed MEP Jacques Toubon to the Grand Palais to talk about culture in Europe.

"Chic" magazine

June 2008 - Arte France
Presentation: Isabelle Giordano

Chic, a weekly magazine broadcast by Arte, the Franco-German TV channel, invites top personalities to talk about their favourite places. In this June show, actress Claire Nebout chose the Nave of the Grand Palais as one of her favourite places in Paris.

“L'amour Formica“: a documentary

The shoot in October 2008
Director: Nicolas Bergès

Formica is an international household word. Like Mobylette (mopeds), Frigidaire (fridges) and Tupperware, the Formica brand symbolises the thirty-year period from 1947 to 1974, the "Trente Glorieuses", during which, in France, like other Western countries, economic growth ushered in the consumer society.
The documentary "L'amour Formica" turned the clock back to this post-war society, when household appliances and American-style glamour girls were ever-present in the brave new world of the cathode-ray tube, to explore the history of a brand name through the intertwined destinies of a village and a factory.
Having hosted the Salon des arts ménagers (domestic arts fair) from 1926 to 1960, it was only fitting that the Grand Palais invite the team to use the building for the shoot.

Shooting for Globo TV

Shooting: June 2009
Produced by Rede Globo

As a prestigious building that is emblematic of France’s capital city, the Grand Palais attracts film directors from around the world. 2009 was France-Brazil Year, and the leading Brazilian TV channel, Globo TV, chose the Grand Palais as a setting for an episode of an ambitious telenovela (soap opera) entitled Viver a vida (Live your Life) by the young actor/director Jayme Matarazzo. The Grand Palais plays a key role in the synopsis. The heroine, a former model who now works in fashion photography, travels the world with her daughter, and when she stops off in Paris, passes the Grand Palais. The Nave casts its spell, and the following night, she dreams that she is alone there, sleeping in a big four-poster bed…
