Festive architecture

For over a hundred years, the public has been beating a path to the doors of the Grand Palais, drawn by its sumptuous architecture and avant-garde programme.
Located on the so-called "Republican axis" from the Invalides on the left bank of the Seine to the Elysée Palace on the right bank via the Alexandre-III Bridge, and the last great thoroughfare to be driven through Paris, the main entrance on avenue Winston-Churchill rises to a height of 69 feet. The facade and its columns were restored between June 2005 and January 2006.

Past splendours

The historic monument today draws more than one and a half million visitors every year and the perron, a victim of the building's success, shows severe traces of wear.
The Grand Palais must be restored to its former magnificence. When its mosaic floor and stone ramps have been restored, it will be able to welcome visitors in worthier conditions with a more efficient management of visitor traffic.
