The VIP Lounge

The Grand Palais' flagship project is to reinvent, in the heart of Monument, a remarkable, yet neglected area, the VIP Lounge (Salon d'honneur), and make it accessible again from the Nave. Available during the second semester 2010.

A well-kept secret

Located in the heart of the Grand Palais, the VIP Lounge is a magnificent area of 12,800 sq. ft., covered by a glass roof at a height of 26 feet. Though, since the construction of the Grand Palais in 1900, this sumptuous area has been the choice setting for numerous events, it is little known.
The VIP Lounge used to be accessible from the Nave via the Great Staircase. Since the Palais de la Découverte took up its permanent home in the Palais d'Antin in 1940, this passage has been bricked up, cutting off the original east-west axis.

A flagship project

Restoring the area's former splendour, equipping it to make it modular and reopening the access from the Nave are essential to the renaissance of the Grand Palais. Restoring the VIP Lounge as a central feature at the heart of the Grand Palais will significantly enlarge the areas available for events in the building.

The VIP Lounge has a twofold vocation.
Nothing less than an extension of the Nave it will offer additional exhibition areas and, as from 2011, enable the public to rediscover the pleasure of visiting the whole of the building, a tour that has been impossible since 1937!
Th VIP Lounge will be available as a stand-alone facility to host receptions, exhibitions, symposia or AGMs.
