An outstanding area
Covering an area of 700 m2, this gallery is located on the first floor around the Nave and has overhead natural lighting. Currently closed to the public, it is one of the Nave's best-kept secrets.
It was however used between 1966 and 1998, when it was requisitioned as classrooms for Slav and German language students from the Sorbonne Paris-IV University.
All the interior partitions have been demolished, recreating this magnificent volume.
The South-East Gallery hosted the T.A.G. au Grand Palais show in April 2009, an event that was an enormous success, drawing 80,000 visitors in one month!
The South-East Gallery will be accessible from the Nave and there will be further access from the Alexandre III rotunda and the Fine Arts Staircase.
