Created in 2001, the CAPE (Centre d'accueil de la presse étrangère) is a press centre that provides a unique facility in downtown Paris at which foreign journalists can receive guidance and information and get together informally.
It is open to foreign correspondents and foreign journalists working in Paris, whether to cover specific events or report on more general aspects of life in France. Its missions also include the organisation of press conferences, debates and forums on domestic or international news issues.
Since its inception, CAPE has staged nearly 2,000 press conferences and debates. These concern foreign policy, European affairs, domestic politics, NGO activities, globalisation, protection of the environment, defence and security, reports by international organisations and major cultural and sports events.
Located since 2001 at the French radio broadcasting centre (Maison de Radio-France), CAPE has moved to part of the south wing of the Grand Palais in the autumn 2008. It will offer modern and ambitious facilities and equipment: press room, conference and debating rooms, accreditation office, interpreting booth and radio studio.
