The architectural project

The structure of the building is designed to be modular and can be reused in many different configurations after is it taken down from the Champs-de-Mars in autumn 2024. The modularity, the use of sustainable materials and the structure of the building make it a project fully in synch with the environmental imperatives of our time: - the “arched” shape of the construction helps to minimise the mass of wood used, as well as the surface area of the roof - the dual skin of the roof has significant acoustic, thermal and ventilating properties, thereby using less energy.

Located on the Plateau Joffre, the Temporary Grand Palais will follow the composition of the Champ-de-Mars, in a simple and non-obstructive addition to the site. Between the École Militaire, an exceptional architectural ensemble designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, and the Eiffel Tower, the Temporary Grand Palais will feature the same curved lines as the Nave and culminate at 20 metres high, without exceeding the École Militaire, standing 16 metres taller. The statue of the Marshall Joffre will be incorporated into the building and will be fully restored for this installation.
