Description
As the first retrospective to be dedicated to Felix Vallotton in nearly fifty years, the exhibition will revisit this artist's work from a unique angle. It will be organized around ten aptly titled themes, evoking not only the aesthetic, social and political concerns that fed his creativity, but also his complex personality.
The exhibition is organised by the Musée d’Orsay and the Réunion des musées nationaux- Grand Palais, Paris, in joint collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam and the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo and Nikkei Inc. With special support from the Musées d’Art et d’Histoire, Genève and the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts, Lausanne.

A monument of stone, glass and metal, the Grand Palais blends into the urban landscape. However, on closer inspection, it is in fact bursting with colour, and one of the challenges of the restoration work currently underway is to restore all its chromatic ranges.
