Its work

The RMN photographic agency produces the photo inventory of the French museums’ collections. It promotes and distributes this image archive.

The archive, which is constantly being added to, offers an overview of the history of art and archaeology, from Antiquity to the 20th century, as it is represented in France’s national and regional museums: the Louvre Museum, the National Museum of Modern Art, the Heritage Media Library photo archive, the Lille Fine Arts Museum, the Fesch Museum in Ajaccio, etc.

Since 2004, the agency has pursued a partnership policy enabling it to distribute its foreign collections: Bildarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz (BPK, Berlin museums), Alinari and the British Museum.

More than 430,000 images can be accessed in the online catalogue, aimed at professionals and the general public.
