Created by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, this event became one of the highlights of the contemporary creation calendar as of its first year. Each year, Monumenta offers a major artist the chance to measure themselves against the might of the Nave in the Grand Palais by creating a collection of new works. Anselm Kiefer was the first artist to be invited.
