Le 18 octobre 1905, la foule se presse aux portes du Grand Palais pour le salon d’Automne notamment le collectionneur havrais Pieter Van der Velde qui succombe au charme de La Fenêtre ouverte d’Henri Matisse et Léo Stein à l’intrigante Femme au chapeau.
