La couleur apparaît dans l'œuvre de Raymond Depardon dès les premières images. Il a alors 16 ans. Depuis, elle l'accompagne dans tous les moments forts : les années de découverte de la photographie, les premiers voyages en Afrique, les grands reportages, puis plus récemment "un moment si doux" qui donne à l'exposition son titre. L'exposition présente 137 photographies en couleur. 40 ont été spécialement réalisées pour l’exposition au MuCEM, dont 23 prises à Marseille. Avec la couleur comme fil conducteur, elle invite à une déambulation dans l'œuvre et la vie de l'artiste depuis la fin des années 50 jusqu'à aujourd’hui.
