Comment définir le terme "Arts de l'Islam" ?

D'où vient le terme Arts de l'Islam ? Quelle géographie et quelle période historique englobe-t-il ? Est-ce que ces oeuvres ne sont que religieuses ?

Charlotte Maury, chargée des collections ottomanes et de l'Art du livre au département des Arts de l'Islam du musée du Louvre répond à toutes ces questions à l'occasion du lancement des 18 expositions* à travers la France. ce samedi 20 novembre 2021.

* Arts de l'Islam, un passé pour un présent, est un ensemble d'expositions exceptionnelles organisées dans 18 villes de France, du 20 novembre 2021 au 27 mars 2022.

Pour admirer toutes ces œuvres, rendez-vous dès le 20 novembre à : Angoulême, Blois, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Figeac, Limoges, Mantes-la-Jolie, Marseille, Nancy, Nantes, Narbonne, Rennes, Rillieux-la-Pape, Rouen, Saint-Denis, Saint-Louis (La Réunion), Toulouse et Tourcoing !
