Between theater and musical comedy, Tiago Rodrigues, a major figure on the European theater stage and director of the Festival d'Avignon, explores the connection between intimate and collective memory through the evocation of his late father.
After the death of his journalist father, director Tiago Rodrigues opens the notebook in which his father had been working non-stop on a final article. Instead of text, he finds only fragments, lines, dots, abstract drawings devoid of meaning. Entering into the gaps and the frustration provoked by this discovery, he creates a labyrinthine and poetic piece about grief, memory, ghosts and the power of storytelling, set to live music blending singing and guitars.
Sixth installment in the celebrated Histoire(s) du Théâtre series initiated at NTGent by Milo Rau, No Yogurt for the Dead multiplies aesthetics and genres exploring all the means of the stage, from realism to onirism, from narrative to musical comedy to reveal theater's ability to listen to the dead and make them speak with the living.
