Meeting places at the crossroads of art and culture
The Grand Palais is a living space open to all, welcoming you all year round to a number of free, open-access areas. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Salon Seine, the Rotonde du Palais de la découverte, restaurants, shops, bookshops and, in summer, the northern third of the Nave, to admire the architecture of this exceptional monument in the heart of Paris.
Visuel 3D du Hall d’accueil
The hall is the gateway to the Grand Palais. Entirely open-plan and spacious, it houses a large reception-information desk to guide you, an area dedicated to individual groups on tour, and a bookstore-shop to extend your experience. From the mezzanine designed by Pierre Vivien, enjoy a unique view of the Place Centrale. It's here that the Réséda Café by Thierry Marx welcomes you for a gourmet break.
Place centrale
Recognizable by its reseda green metal structure and rows of columns that define all the building's perspectives, the Place centrale lies at the heart of the Grand Palais’s new visitor flow. At the crossroads of the Nave, the Palais d'Antin, the reception hall and the Salon Seine, it is a true meeting point. Settle into a relaxing corner for a relaxing break, let yourself be inspired by the Grand Palais design and crafts shop, and admire the monumental curtain composed of hand-embroidered elements by Studio MTX and le19M Maisons d'art with the support of CHANEL, which adorns the view of the Nave as and when is required.
The fruit of an exceptional collaboration with le19M, CHANEL's Métiers d'art venue and studio MTX, this ornamental curtain can be seen all year round from the Place centrale.
Designed to subtly partition the Nave and its central space, this contemporary work celebrates the wealth of excellent craftsmanship and stands out as a functional and poetic element, in direct dialogue with the architecture and history of the monument. The motif, composed of vertical rectangles, evokes a suspended rainfall, naturally inviting you to look up at the Grand Palais' emblematic glass roof. The chromatic palette is directly inspired by the architecture: reseda green, the signature of the metal structure, blends subtly into shades of white and deep blue, like a horizon in motion.
The Salon Seine is a new living space dedicated to young people, with free access and a special welcome for families Spanning 900 m², this space invites both young and old to share creative moments in a bright and friendly atmosphere. With a playful activity counter, bookstore-shop, interactive artworkt, the Salon Seine is a perfect place to meet up and have fun!
Nef du Grand Palais
Open in summer, the northern third of the Nave offers breathtaking views of the Grand Palais’ architecture. Listed as a historic monument since 1975, it is the symbol of the building. With its 13,500 m², topped by the largest glass roof in Europe, it fascinates with its zenithal light, its grace and the technical prowess of its architects. Every year, as the seasons change, it hosts the Grand Palais' cultural program of events. Take a tour and enjoy its unique architecture.
Vestiaires
For the first time in the history of the Grand Palais, the foundations are visible! The architecture of vaulted ceilings, brickwork and stonework is revealed in a whole new light, providing a unique setting for your visit. Accessible from the Place Centrale via two staircases created to replace the old horse ramps, this vast area houses the Palais des enfants, a self-service cloakroom and sanitary facilities.
Rotonde du Palais de la découverte
Restored during a series of renovation campaigns, the Rotonde du Palais de la découverte is now open to all, freely and without reservation. Like a heritage walk between the reception hall, the Place centrale and the Salon Seine, it reveals the brilliance of its mosaics, sculptures and gilded leaves. You can also admire the monumental artwork by Fernand Léger, Le Transport des Forces, created in 1937 for the International Exposition.
From October 2025 to winter 2026, this space closes its doors to allow for the installation of the Palais de la découverte's museography facilities.
