Revue des Tumerels

Performances & Concerts Upcoming

François Chaignaud and Geoffroy Jourdain

December 20, 2025

La Revue des Tumerels brings together singers, dancers and performers, for a show blending song, dance and cabaret. Geoffroy Jourdain and François Chaignaud revisit sacred music and modern cabaret in an interactive creation, a world premiere for the closing of the Festival d'Automne 2025.

"Tumer" means to dance, to shake and to tumble in ancient French. To close the Portrait and the 2025 edition of the Festival d'Automne, Geoffroy Jourdain and François Chaignaud have brought together a collective of tumerels - singers, dancers and performers - to create a cabaretic show blending dance and song.

Since 2020, these performers have been exploring the combination of singing and dance in shows such as tumulus and In absentia, putting the sacred music of the Renaissance into voice, body and motion. For La Revue des Tumerels, the community comes together once again: Jourdain and Chaignaud take turns becoming "Frannie from the block" and "Mademoiselle Crapote", organizing a joyous drift inspired by cabaret codes, with instruments, dance, ancient music and contemporary hymns.

The show celebrates the multiplicity of registers and self-expressions, playing on interactions with the audience and alternating singing, movement and performance.

A first partnership between the Grand Palais and the Festival d'Automne took place in 2021, before the monument's renovation work began, with the creation of Boris Charmatz's La Ronde. This new collaboration in 2025 marks the reopening of the Grand Palais with the co-production of two projects by choreographer François Chaignaud, featured in a Portrait in this edition of the Festival. Sylphides and La Revue des Tumerels will take over two emblematic and singular galleries of the Grand Palais.

On the two levels of gallery 2, redesigned by architect Pierre Vivien in the early 1960s, Sylphides, the legendary performance created in 2009 with Cécilia Bengolea, unfolds in a new, extended and ambulatory version.

The majestic Galerie 7 will host the world premiere of Revue des Tumerels, a cabaretic form imagined with choral conductor Geoffroy Jourdain and a community of performers blending dance and song, the fruit of the two artists' joint work.
