ACQUISITIONS
A copy of the newspaper L Aurore dated 13 January 1898 On 13 January 1898, Georges Clemenceau, then po- litical director of the L'Aurore newspaper, decided to publish an open letter written by Emile Zola in favour of Alfred Dreyfus sent to the President of the Republic Félix Faure. This letter, the title chosen by Clemenceau of which was J'accuse...! (I accuse...!) was the headline spread across the entire front page. It made a huge im- pression and launched what was to become the Dreyfus affair. This original copy of the newspaper was acquired by the Musée National Clemenceau-De Lattre, which had only held a copy up to then.
A broth bowl and its tray, 1811 This broth bowl was produced by the Sèvres Manufacture Impériale in 1811 to celebrate the long-awaited birth of the imperial heir on March 20, 1811 and was offered by Emperor Napoleon I to Empress Marie-Louise. An exceptional testimony of one of the highlights of Court life under the Empire, this bowl was acquired by the Musée National du Château de Fontainebleau in 2020.
Two acquisitions in public auctions and a donation for the Musée Marc Chagall in Nice The museum acquired a windbreak, a singular item among the artist's works. Four monumental coloured lith- ographs, mounted on wooden panels, form one of the few intrusions by the master into the world of Decorative Arts. The museum s rich collection of lithographic works has also been supplemented by five engravings and two lithographs reflecting how Chagall s stamping practice evolved between 1922 and 1963. Finally, five illustrated books, donated by the artist s granddaughters, highlight Chagall s strong relationship with the written word and his fruitful collaborations with publishers.
