PRESERVING THE PLANET
In 2020, the Rmn - Grand Palais contin- ued the actions previously undertaken based on the 2016 carbon footprint impact findings. These findings showed that, apart from emissions related to vis- itor travel, 32% of emissions came from energy, 32% from inputs and 18% from freight. Firstly, the Rmn Grand Palais chose to focus its action on reducing emissions from the building itself and from logistics activities, two areas in which the establishment has more direct room for manoeuver.
Reduce energy consumption In 2018 the Rmn - Grand Palais launched a policy to reduce energy consumption on all its sites. In 2020, H3C carried out energy audits for the following sites: the head office in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, the casting studios in Saint- Denis, the Garonor warehouses and the offices on Avenue Ledru-Rollin. The audit findings in December confirmed the good results achieved in particular at the head office, where electricity con- sumption has decreased by 27 % since the last energy audit in 2015 (consump- tion 2015 - 2019). Energy studies for the Grand Palais were carried out in the more global context of the renovation and standards compliance project prior to re-opening.
The Rmn - Grand Palais and the Wilmotte firm also set the goal of min- imising the environmental impacts of the Temporary Grand Palais. Electrical equipment was selected to reduce us- age consumption levels (LD equipment and A+ energy labelling, high energy efficient elevators). The building en- velope comprises rock wool, gypsum board, but also an acoustic canvas that provides high thermal and sound insu- lation. Finally, the concession holder GL
