GUIDED TOURS
The tour guides of the Rmn Grand Palais are art historians specialising in visitor engage- ment, who facilitate the public s interaction by using their knowledge to explain the con- tent of the exhibition, while maintaining a di- alogue with visitors. Around one hundred tour guides from the Rmn - Grand Palais organize guided tours in some twenty of the establish- ment's national partner museums. They work on exhibitions at the Grand Palais and the Musée du Luxembourg, the Louvre Museum, the Palace of Versailles, the Musée d Orsay and the Musée de l Orangerie, the Musée Marc Chagall and the Musée National de la Renaissance in Ecouen
For every audience Working for museums and their engagement policy, the tour guides tailor their offering to the requirements of all audiences, whether visiting individually or in a group, for leisure or with school, adults or children, those with disabilities, illnesses or with little access to culture. The Rmn Grand Palais tour guides are specially trained to welcome this di- verse range of visitors and make the muse- um collections and art history accessible to them, while also ensuring that they have a good time.
Diversified engagement practices The tour guides offer diversified engagement formats tailored to the requirements of all types of visitors, including traditional guid- ed tours, immersive visits for children, family tours, tours followed by educational work- shops, sensory tours and presentations or lec- tures in the galleries. Drawing on this practical experience, they also help design educational resources for visitors, such as activity booklets
for children, educational kits for teachers and tools to help families plan their visit. The health crisis in 2020 was an opportunity for the team of guides to experiment and de- velop new forms of engagement adapted to the health crisis: interactive video-conference, bedside engagement in hospitals, engage- ment in schools or online conferences.
A NEW PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN CULTURE AND HOSPITALS
In 2020, the Rmn - Grand Palais and the Culture et Hôpital association teamed up to propose art engagement initiatives in geriatric institutions and for patients isolated in their homes. These initiatives were in digital form. The beneficiaries, numbering 100, were able to experience moments of discovery around wine, music or celebrations in art. This partner- ship is part of the Rmn - Grand Palais policy aimed at promoting access to culture for re- mote and cut-off audiences. The Rmn - Grand Palais has also formed partnerships with sever- al other structures to carry out these initiatives throughout the year: the Aurore association, the Habitat et Humanisme movement, the Artz association, the Agence Nationale des Chèques Vacances, the Institut Télémaque, the Théâtre Handicap research centre and the Agence Nationale de Lutte contre l Illetrisme.
