The Rmn - Grand Palais will use the opportunity provided by the closure of the Grand Palais to innovate and test new concepts and formats it can then use when the Grand Palais reopens. All the teams were mobilised to put together an ambitious programme for the closure period.
In addition to the exhibitions in the Musée du Luxembourg and the na- tional and regional museums, the Rmn - Grand Palais signed a part- nership in December 2019 with the Etablissement Public du Parc et de la Grande Halle de la Villette (EPPGHV) to co-produce one major exhibition each year, starting with an exhibition on Napoleon in 2021. The Histoires d Art classes usually held at the Grand Palais have been trans- ferred to the Musée de l Armée since September 2020, in accordance with the partnership agreement signed between the two institutions on 10 August 2020. This agreement aims to strengthen links with a view to establishing a new cultural quarter between the bottom of the Champs- Elysées and the Invalides when the Grand Palais reopens. These cours- es can also be developed online, as was the case at the end of 2020 as a result of the pandemic. In addition, new projects have been devised in favour of artistic and cultural educa- tion and the regions: walking tours, new educational packages, develop- ment of initiatives for a remote and cut-off public, exhibitions in schools,
development of the Panorama of Art and History by Image sites, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), pro- totyping and deployment of playful tools to discover the history of art specifically created for the regions.
The recent and highly successful new partnerships between the Rmn - Grand Palais publishing houses and regional museums and other players will continue to be developed while the Grand Palais is closed. The Rmn - Grand Palais has also chosen to develop youth publications related to exhibitions, museum collections or art history, in order to make art accessible to as many as possible. It will publish these works by itself or in the form of co-publications with specialised publishers.
The Rmn - Grand Palais will contin- ue its development through bids for contracts to manage bookstores and shops, while diversifying its partner- ships. It will expand distribution of its products through online and ex- ternal distribution channels; it will develop new products based on the collections in the French national and regional museums and intended for young people, a sector that contin- ues to grow despite the current cri- sis. For example, three board games inspired by the educational packages developed for the Histoires d Art à l Ecole programme were published in partnership with Bioviva.
