AROUND THE EXHIBITION
Pompéi Chez Vous (Pompeii at home) At the very start of the first nation-wide lock- down, when museums had to stay closed, a large volume of content was posted online on the grandpalais.fr site to promote the ex- hibition through the Pompéi Chez Vous programme. Preview videos, reading, games and educational resources were available for free to bring the exhibition to life. From the animated series with historian Virginie Girod to the colourful reproduction of Livie s sculp- ture in augmented reality, this programme was very popular with the public. This resulted in a significant number of visits to the Grand Palais site - nearly 2.8 million - between March 1 and October 29, the closing date of the exhibition.
Cultural programme Conferences, meetings, films, the various events proposed in the auditorium around the Pompeii exhibition were attended by as many people as were allowed under Covid restric- tions. Visitors who were unable to access the room were able to find all the podcasts on- line at grandpalais.fr. The status of women in Rome, the history of gladiation, Pompeii in the cinema, Inrap s meetups Historians and ar- chaeologists presented their latest discoveries about the ancient city and daily life under the Roman High Empire to a captivated audience. Another highlight of the programme was the huge success of the immersive screenings of Pink Floyd's legendary performance in the Pompeii amphitheatre. On the evening of 3 October, the Nuit Blanche (Dusk to Dawn) event took place in the rain and in good hu- mour with a reading from the Grand Palais bal- cony and a night tour of the exhibition.
