POMPEII IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION ARCHAEOLOGICAL TREASURES NEW DISCOVERIES
Ever since its buried ruins were discovered, Pompeii continues to fascinate us. Rich in centuries of history, a melting pot of Mediterranean populations, Pompeii prospered in antiquity thanks to its trade and fertile lands. However, the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 A.D. devastated the city and annihilated the population, freezing the city in time and preserving it by concealing it for long centuries afterwards. This major archaeological site features on the UNESCO world heritage list and is visited by more than three million visitors each year, but has long suffered from a lack of resources. Since the collapse of the House of the Gladiators in 2010, large-scale digs have been resumed by the Pompeii Archaeological Park, under the direction of Professor Massimo Osanna. These digs have revealed new neighbourhoods, far exceeding archaeologists expectations and vastly increasing our knowledge of this site, emblematic of Roman civilisation. They also enabled the city's history and event timeline to be completed and new works of great beauty to be recovered.
